Your Port Townsend Area Realtor
I love being a Port Townsend area Realtor because real estate is my passion and Jefferson County is a truly special place to live with the Olympic Mountains, miles of shoreline from the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Hood Canal, its mild climate & low rainfall, a parade of culturally stimulating festivals, Victorian architecture, organic farms & markets, and its collection of wonderful communities from which to select a home or land.
City regulations in Port Townsend to regulations out in the county will vary and I take pride in my familiarity with the regulations as well as my good working relationships with both city and county planning officials. Planned communities like Cape George Colony, Kala Point, Port Ludlow have their own rules while more rural Marrowstone Island, Discovery Bay and the Chimacum Valley may have shoreline or well considerations.
Whether you're buying or selling a dream home or a $50,000 lot, my focus as your Port Townsend Area Realtor is always on providing you with an unparalleled level of service. As an experienced professional Realtor®, covering every community in East Jefferson County from downtown Port Townsend to Paradise Bay and Shine near the Hood Canal Bridge, I'd love to support you in making informed choices during every step of your real estate transaction.
I Believe Success as a Realtor is Not an Accident; It is a Habit
I began my career with the Port Townsend Windermere Office in 1998 after 14 years in the financial industry. In 2005 my effectiveness allowed me to purchase the office with a business partner. I believe this job is the greatest because I love working with people. I will give you my best effort as we move through the marketing process and hope to earn your trust and highest regards during the entire transaction so that you will contact me with your future real estate business or when making recommendations to friends.
Family & Community Relationships
I was born and raised in northwest Washington and have lived on the southeast end of Marrowstone Island overlooking Admiralty Inlet since 1986. I am passionate about my real estate career as an agent and business owner but equally enthusiastic about the many wonderful aspects of living on this part of the Olympic Peninsula. Both of my daughters attended the Chimacum Schools and have successfully completed their undergraduate college degrees. My husband taught in the Quilcene School District for 20 years, substituted in the Chimacum Schools, and coached in the Port Townsend School District. We also continue to be involved in an assortment of community activities. One of my devoted interests is serving on the Board of Jumping Mouse Children's Center; a valuable community resource serving children and their families who have experienced severe physical or emotional distress.
I am Happy to Help You Buy or Sell Any Type of Property
Are you looking for a Victorian? Waterfront? Acreage? A setting where you can watch your sailboat from your living room window? Next to the golf course? Beautiful park for your morning walk? As your Port Townsend Realtor, I will listen to what you desire, use your time effectively, and help you define and reach your goals.
I truly believe representing buyers as a Port Townsend Realtor is about being a great listener and helping you make informed choices when purchasing a home or property. Most people don’t make major moves or purchases often. I manage it daily. As your Realtor in Port Townsend, I am here to facilitate your knowledge of local areas, community resources and events, and provide you with information about market conditions to help you define and then connect with the right property for you. Port Ludlow is vastly different from Port Townsend. I’ll help you understand the aspects of each. Personal service with a pool of resources.
Are You Considering Relocating?
If you’re new to the area and considering relocating, I’d love introduce Port Townsend to you with a personalized (no obligation) tour. I'm your Port Townsend Real Estate Agent - just give me a call or drop me an email and I'm happy to show you the ins and outs of the Port Townsend area!
Are You Looking to Sell?
For property owners thinking of selling, my job as your Port Townsend Realtor is about marketing your property. I use the internet (my website, our office website, and all Windermere's website affiliations), newsprint, flyers, communicating with other Jefferson County Realtors, or just talking about it with friends and interested visitors that continuously enter our doors since we have the best location in town...right in the downtown historic district across from the ferry landing. My focus is to make it possible for many different people whether they are currently visiting Port Townsend or living in Mystic Connecticut, to consider your property. Quality photos are also a very important aspect of my marketing approach. Once a qualified buyer has presented an acceptable offer to you, another key component is managing the sales transaction. I provide expert advice and guidance through all parts of the contractual process, helping you protect your interests and ensuring every phase of the sale flows smoothly as possible.
"I highly recommend Jan Garing as an upstanding, caring and efficient realtor. Having bought a sold a few places in my life, I know to appreciate how important a good realtor is and Jan Garing is top notch. Just so pleasant and engaged. Makes you feel like it's okay to be a little neurotic during the house hunting process."
